Today we had our 32 week doctor appointment. After a disappointing last doctor's appointment that did not go smoothly (saw a new doctor, she was rushed and blew off many of my questions), I was looking forward to this next one. We scheduled it with one of the nurse midwives in the practice who we have only heard fabulous things about. She definitely lived up to her (great) reputation!
I came armed with a long list of questions about labor and delivery after being in our Birth and Beginnings classes for the last four weeks. She was so patient with us, answered every question, and even used analogies that made sense to Chuck to explain the more complicated medical stuff. She really taught us a lot and made me feel a lot more comfortable about the whole process. I wish SHE could deliver the baby! But unfortunately our hospital does not allow that anymore - must be an MD - so I'll just have to get as much benefit from her knowledge beforehand!
Here's the update in "fetus friday" style:
Weight Gain: 30lbs - right on track. The chart said I should gain 28-40lbs and from this point on I should gain a pound a week, so with a little less than 8 weeks left, I should still be in the target range.
Aches & Pains: I have been sleeping a little better now that I've figured out where all the pillows need to be to support my growing belly. I thought I hadn't had any braxton-hicks contractions yet, but as soon as I said that at the doctor's office today, I started having (what I think is) them. It's not incredibly painful, just quite uncomfortable. Tonight's sleep might be a little more challenging than expected.
Cravings: Chocolate, ice cream, peanut butter, chocolate ice cream, Reese's ice cream...any combination of the above. This kiddo is either going to love or hate chocolate and peanut butter!
Belly pic: The one posted above is from this weekend at Chuck's sister's house. We took more on Easter at my grandmother's house. We had a lot of fun taking them! I'll post a couple here and will have to do an all-picture post later to get all the good ones in!
